Tokyo Ghoul:re is the sequel to Sui Ishida's Tokyo Ghoul, set some time after the original series and following Haise Sasaki, an investigator for the Commission of Counter Ghoul (CCG) who leads a squad of young Quinx recruits while unaware of his own hidden past. As Haise trains his subordinates to hunt the flesh-eating ghouls that stalk Tokyo, fragments of a former identity tied to the earlier series' protagonist begin to resurface, even as a war escalates between the CCG and increasingly organised ghoul factions. Ishida's series is known for its atmospheric horror, morally complex characters and exploration of identity and monstrosity on both sides of the human-ghoul divide. This volume continues the series' descent into that tangled conflict as old secrets come to light.
