Hell's Paradise: Jigokuraku follows Gabimaru the Hollow, a legendary ninja assassin sentenced to execution, who is given one last chance at a pardon: retrieve the elixir of immortality from Shinsenkyo, a remote island shrouded in myth and monsters. He is paired with Sagiri Yamada Asaemon, a stoic executioner ordered to bring back his head should he fail or try to flee. Together with a crew of fellow death-row convicts and their own executioner escorts, they are dropped onto the island and forced to survive grotesque, plant-born creatures while racing to uncover the secret of eternal life. In this later volume, the story's darker mysteries and long-buried secrets of Shinsenkyo come further into focus.
